Well, our semi-annual Expressive Arts Therapy Intensive Seminar is quickly approaching. This is going to be a week filled with art, music, dance/movement, drama and storytelling. We will begin Monday Sept. 17th, at 9AM until Saturday Sept. 22, at 5PM. There is still time to sign up. Simply call SDUIS at (619) 297-1999 and ask to be enrolled in our Expressive Arts Seminar.
This Fall 2012 at SDUIS we will offer our Foundations in Expressive Arts Therapy course, along with Fundamentals in Dance/Movement Therapy course. For our online certificate students who live out of town, we will also offer the Foundations in Expressive Arts Therapy course.
What is on the horizon? The state of California, under the Board of Behavioral Science (BBS), has just recognized a new license, the LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). SDUIS is currently working on approval for our Master's Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy.
What does this mean? This means that if you receive a Master's Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy from SDUIS, then you may sit for the licensing exam under the BBS, and practice as a licensed therapist in the state of CA using this degree. THIS IS HUGH! Until now in order to receive a license from the BBS, graduates had to have completed a Master's Degree in either Marriage & Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work. Once our Expressive Art Therapy program is approved, those people who are interested in being a licensed professional specializing in Expressive Art Therapy will finally have that opportunity.
I HOPE TO SEE YOU AT OUR UPCOMING EVENT IN SEPT. 2012. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at: ExpressiveArts@yvettelyonsphd.com
