Hello All you creative souls,
I am excited to let you know about our upcoming art journal project. This Spring at the San Diego University for Integrative Studies I am organizing an art show. However, this art show is not like the usual art show. This art show is entitled, 'THE ART OF ART THERAPY'. Therefore, the art for this show is not fine art. The art for this show will be filled with art created by the artist for the purpose of self-awareness, self healing and personal transformation.
The ART JOURNAL. At this art show, I will have on display an art journal created by students, faculty, and anyone else who would like to submit a page to our journal. The title of this art journal is "LIVE A CREATIVE LIFE".
I am adding the art journal guidelines for anyone who is interested in participating in this project. I hope you all consider making a submission. Remember:
You do NOT have to be an 'artist'
You may submit anything that falls under the title: Live A Creative Life.
Here are the guidelines:
“LIVE A CREATIVE LIFE” Art Journal Project
You are invited to participate in the San Diego University for Integrative Studies (SDUIS) Art Journal Project. We are asking people both Nationally and Internationally to participate in creating our very special art sketchbook journal by submitting art work for this project. The Title of this journal is “LIVE A CREATIVE LIFE”. Our University has a strong multi-cultural emphasis, therefore, your art submission can reflect your cultural if you choose.
The finished sketchbooks will be on display at an upcoming ‘The Art of Art Therapy’ art exhibit being held at SDUIS in the Spring 2013. . There will also be an Art of Art Therapy Journal workshop which will describe the process and outcomes of this project, and will allow participants to work on their submission. However, attendance at this workshop is not required for art work submission. (*Date and other information for this workshop will follow. If you are interested in attending please email me in the subject line write: “ART FOR ART THERAPY”.)
There is not specific theme for this art journal. The title will be, “Live A Creative Life”. You may use any media you choose. We hope to see what portrays creativity in your life. The name, "Live A Creative Life" was established from the idea that many of us want to be more creative in our daily lives, and the use of an art sketchbook can help us do this. An art sketchbook holds information about our live. We use such an art journal for self awareness and personal growth. Whether it is used for ideas for projects, insights, images, or themes, sketchbooks often act as a holding place or memories, for creative inspiration and ideas. Since our University has a strong multicultural base, I welcome a multicultural flavor.
Submission Guidelines and Deadlines
Let's get creative and have something amazing to display and share! Please submit pages to be added into the book. The journal is a standard, black sketchbook size. The dimensions are a standard 8x10 paper size. You can do a 16x10 to cover two side by side pages, *but please be sure that you create on the outside of this longer sheet to ensure we have no blank pages in our book. You can also do multiple pages if you would like to be inserted in order or randomly throughout the book. The artwork must remain within the original cover dimensions (standard 8x10 paper size). It can open up to something amazing, of any size, but it must fold down to the original dimensions of 8 x 10. You can cut a hole in the page to create a window effect for your piece. Three dimensional art is also acceptable, (i.e., yarn, ribbon, beads etc.) as long as the art fits within the 8X10 size, (but it is OK if some adornments extend beyond the edges of the page such as ribbon, yarn, etc.).
We ask that you mail your piece by the deadline of April 30, 2013.
