“LIVING A CREATIVE LIFE”
Art Journal Project
You are invited to participate in the San Diego University for Integrative Studies (SDUIS) Art Journal Project. We are asking people both Nationally and Internationally to participate in creating our very special art sketchbook journal by submitting art work for this project. The Title of this journal is “LIVING A CREATIVE LIFE”.
Our University has a strong multi-cultural emphasis, therefore, your art submission both here in the US as well as around the world are welcome. The finished art journal will be on display at an upcoming ‘The Art of Art Therapy’ art exhibit being held at SDUIS in the Aug. 18, 2013.
There will also be an Art of Art Therapy Journal workshop which will describe the process and outcomes of this project, and will allow participants to work on their submission. However, attendance at this workshop is not required for art work submission.
DATE: SAT. JULY 13, 2013
TIME: 9AM – 4PM
WHERE: SDUIS, 3900 HARNEY ST. SAN DIEGO, CA 92110
The art journal will be all original art work. The artwork will be glued into the book and would not be returned to you. The artwork can be signed but no bio information or anything further would be included to acknowledge the artists. The plan is for this book is to have over 100 pages. This is not a juried submission -- all art will be included.
We are also having an art for art therapy art show on Aug. 17, 2013. I can send you more information on that as well.. this art show is accepting submissions from current as well as past students and ANY other creative souls who are interested in participating in this event. (You DO NOT have to be an artist to submit a page for this collaborative project.)
There is not specific theme for this art journal. The title will be, “Living A Creative Life”. You may use any media you choose. We hope to see what portrays creativity in your life. The name, "Living A Creative Life" was established from the idea that many of us want to be more creative in our daily lives, and the use of an art sketchbook can help us do this. An art journal holds information about our live. We use such an art journal for self awareness and personal growth. Whether it is used for ideas for projects, insights, images, or themes, sketchbooks often act as a holding place or memories, for creative inspiration and ideas. Since our University has a strong multicultural base, I welcome a multicultural flavor.
Submission Guidelines and Deadlines: Let's get creative and have something amazing to display and share! Please submit pages to be added into the book. The journal is a standard, black sketchbook size. The dimensions are a standard 8x10 paper size. You can do a 16x10 to cover two side by side pages, *but please be sure that you create on the backside of this longer sheet to ensure we have no blank pages in our book. You can also do multiple pages if you would like to be inserted in order or randomly throughout the book. The artwork must remain within the original cover dimensions(standard 8x10 paper size). It can open up to something amazing, of any size, but it must fold down to the original dimensions of 8 x 10. You can cut a hole in the page to create a window effect for your piece. Three dimensional art is also acceptable, (i.e., yarn, ribbon, beads etc.) as long as the art fits within the 8X10 size, (but it is OK if some adornments extend beyond the edges of the page such as ribbon, yarn, etc.).
We ask that you mail your piece by the deadline of July 15, 2013.
DEADLINE: JULY 15, 2013
